William Robert "Bob" McGuire Sr., 92, of Crane, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2013, at the Crane Memorial Hospital.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 30, 2013, at the Crane County Cemetery with Minister Mike Smith officiating. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
Bob was born on October 7, 1921, in Mitchell County, Texas. He married Johnnie Clay Smith on December 11, 1940 in Colorado City, Texas. Bob was a longtime resident of both Colorado City and Crane. Bob loved his grandchildren dearly; they were his pride and joy. Bob was a member of the Cowboy Turtles Association, the Rodeo Cowboys Association, and was a gold card member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association. Bob was a rancher, and he had served as a former law enforcement officer in Mitchell County for the Sheriff's office. Bob was a member of Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Addie McGuire; and his great grandson, William Trent Ueckert.
Survivors include his wife of 73 years, Johnnie Clay McGuire of Crane; daughter, Judy Dobbs and her husband Quail of Coahoma, Texas; his son, Bill McGuire and his wife Linda of Crane; six grandchildren, Misty Ueckert and her husband David of Ballinger, Stephanie Rotan and her husband Wayne of Glen Rose, Texas, Coley Dobbs and his wife Shawna of Coahoma, Texas, Kimberly Stone and her husband Todd of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Cody McGuire and his wife Rachael of Schertz, Texas, and Clay McGuire and his wife Jeri of Pullman, Washington; and 10 great grandchildren.
