William Merle Caldwell

He was born on March 30, 1945, in San Angelo, Tx to James William and Ollie Frances Starns Caldwell.

Merle came to McCamey as a small child and resided here until his death. He worked for McCamey ISD from 2-1-1966 until retirement on 7-31-1991. Merle was a Baptist and a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church.

Survivors include several cousins from Texas, Arkansas, and Georgia. He is also survived by many, many McCamey friends.

Merle was a proud & dedicated Badger fan. He loved going to church and fellowshipping with people......and driving around town! McCamey has lost a true historian of the town & the people in it! Rest In Peace our Christian Brother.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023, from 6pm to 8pm at the Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home Chapel in McCamey.  Funeral Services will be held in the Chapel at 2pm on Sunday, November 5, 2023, with Reverend Ted Creech officiating.  Burial will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Davis, Dwayne Duncan, Steve Ramirez, Wayne Walker, Kevin Walker, Mark Marquez.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Marvin King, Lupe Ramirez, David Jones.
