Wanda Lee Legrand Stone, 77, of Sanderson, passed away on Monday, September 26, 2011, at the Hospice House in Odessa.
Private services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home of Crane.
Wanda was born on February 15, 1934, in Buena Vista, Texas. She was a graduate of Buena Vista High School. Wanda married James Cantley Stone 54 years ago on May 9, 1957. During their marriage they lived in Fort Stockton, Sierra Blanca, Van Horn, and currently in Sanderson.
Wanda loved quilt making, baking, and she loved flowers. Her favorite saying was, "Laugh and the world laughs with you!" and "Snore and you sleep alone!" Her favorite words were "Erks" or "Oh Gadds!"
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, B. F. and Mary Barnes Legrand; two brothers, Benjamin Legrand Jr., and Ray Legrand; two sisters, Helen Legrand West, and Ruby Legrand Ozga; and her son, Dayle Thomas Stone.
Survivors include her husband, James Cantley Stone of Sanderson; two daughters, Suzanne Stone Halfmann and her husband Kenneth, and Cynthia Stone Sell all of Lubbock; four grandchildren, Mitchell and Natasha Sell, and Kenney and Heather Halfmann all of Lubbock; and one great grandson, Brayden Ashmore of Lubbock; a sister-in-law, Doris Malm of Fort Stockton; and numerous nieces, and nephews.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
