Wanda Carpenter, 88 of Iraan, passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2021, in Centerville, Texas, surrounded by her loving family.
Wanda was born on December 14, 1932, in Stephenville, Texas. She married the love of her life, Edward Carpenter on December 24, 1949. They moved to Iraan in 1953.
Wanda was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Iraan where she was an active member serving as a lay member for many years. Her church was important to her it was evident how she lived her life. Their home was always open to strangers and many knew it was a safe haven for a wonderful home cooked meal. Wanda loved to cook and known for her excellent cooking.
She loved being outdoors tending to her flowers and yard. Wanda enjoyed her membership in Garden Club and having club member come to her home.
She was preceded in death by her husband Edd Carpenter on November 10, 2020; her parents; and her brother Kenneth Thurman.
Wanda is survived by her children, Eddie Carpenter and his wife Sheryl of Centerville, Texas, Kathy Pearce and her husband John of Giddings, Texas, and Terry Carpenter and his wife Jana of Rockport, Texas; sister, Janice Salazar and her husband Louis of San Antonio, TX; 14 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 16, 2021, at the First Baptist Church in Iraan with Reverend Eric Bayer officiating. Burial will follow in the Carpenter Family Cemetery at the family ranch in Crockett County. Services can be viewed live on the First Baptist Church Facebook page.
