Wallace R. Cox, “Cotton”, 80, of Crane went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at his residence.
Cotton was born on May 8, 1940 in Cotton Valley, Louisiana to Davis Cox and Idell Harvey. He attended Cotton Valley High School and was a member of First Baptist Church of Rankin.
He married the love of his life, Florence “Whimpy” Dick on June 24, 1960. They moved to Crane in 1973 and after 32 years he retired from Hunt Oil Company.
He enjoyed many activities in his life. He loved to hunt, cook outdoors, and spend time with family and friends. He was most happy surrounded by his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren who refer to him as Pops.
Cotton is preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, 3 sisters, and twin grandchildren.
He is survived by his beautiful bride of 60 years, Florence “Whimpy” Cox of Crane. He is also survived by his son Wallace Cox, Jr. and wife Sherri of Crane, daughter Annette “Teenie” Mason and husband Bobby of Andrews, daughter Kimberly McClure and husband Robbie of Rankin, daughter Janice Fedorko and husband John of Grand Prairie, and one brother and one sister. Eleven grandchildren, Daniel, Lindsey, Brent, Brian, Jon, Julie, Alyson, Kolton, Justin, Cameron, and Carlota; and numerous great-grandchildren will miss their loving Pops.
The family has requested a private service. Burial will be held in the Crane County Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home of Crane.
