Vanita P. Young

Vanita Paulette Young, 85, of Ector County, passed on to be with her beloved husband, and her Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, October 3, 2021.

Vanita was born on January 20, 1936, in Hobbs, NM. She married Lester L. Young on November 20, 1951, in Gains County, Texas. He preceded her in death on February 17, 2011.

Vanita loved to collect dolls, glass and to crochet.

She leaves behind her loving family. Five sons, Jimmy Young and his wife Jean of Colorado, Billy Young and his wife Kristy of Amarillo, TX, Gary Young and his wife Barbara of Odessa, Danny Young and his wife Larisa of Paris, TX, and Steven Young and his wife Christine of Odessa; grandchildren, Rodger and Tara Young, Tony Young, Dawn and Mike Ptaszynski, Devonie Young, JJ Mitchel, Brandy and Scott Turner, Heather and Brad Atkinson, Savana Secking, Bud Young, Donna Rudder, and Meagan Young; as well as numerous great grandchildren.
Vanita is also survived by one brother, Floyd Griffin of Hobbs, NM; sister, Ida Benson of Rhode Island; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, October 8, 2021, at the Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Pete Landa officiating. Burial will follow in the Crane Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Rodger Young, Tony Young, JJ Mitchel, Bud Young, Jeremy Hatfield, and Thomas Ptaszynski. Honorary pallbearers will be Brad Atkinson, Bret Young, and Mike Ptaszynski.
