Stanley Bryson, 88, of McCamey, passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2015, at the Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at the Resthaven Cemetery in McCamey with Reverend Ernest Wall officiating. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
Stanley was born on July 4, 1926, in Fort Stockton, Texas to Joe and Ella Mae Bryson. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1944 until 1946. Stanley was very active in his community. He served on the McCamey Volunteer Fire Department, McCamey EMS, and the McCamey Hospital Board. He was a troop leader for the Boy Scouts of America, and was a member of the McCamey Chamber of Commerce and McCamey Lions Club.
Stanley had worked for the Southern Union Gas Company, Texas Highway Department, and served as City Manager for the City of McCamey before his retirement. He loved spending time outdoors hunting, fishing, and collecting arrow heads.
Stanley was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Donna Darleene Bryson; and his sister, Joella Crump.
He is survived by his wife, Nell Bryson of McCamey; a son, Joe Bryson and his wife Cindy of Lake Jackson, Texas; a daughter, Elaine McKee of Bronte, Texas; four grandchildren, Kendra Green, Kyle Bryson, Stacie McKee, and Casey McKee; and one great grandchild, Alexis Mae Green.
