Shirley Matlock, 83, of Crane, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, December 4th, 2020 in Crane, TX.
Shirley was born on September 9th, 1937 in Fall Leaf, Kansas to Richard Bryant and Fern Cordell-Bryant-Fagg. She graduated from Lamont High School in Lamont, Kansas. She married the love of her life Delbert Leon Matlock on May 12th, 1957. They moved to Crane in 1965.
Shirley was the church secretary for First Baptist Church of Crane for 25 years and was also a member of the Crane Rebekahs Lodge. Some of her favorite hobbies included antiquing, reading, and sending hundreds of birthday cards to family and friends each year. She loved sitting on her patio with her husband enjoying their flowers and chickens. Her greatest joy of all was her daughter and all her grandchildren who adored her as well.
To all who knew her she was a sweet gentle spirit who always saw the good in everyone. She was an eternal optimist whose Christ-like faith was something to admire and aspire to. She never shied away from hard work or lending a helping hand to anyone in need. She was a friend and inspiration to all who knew her and the likes of which we will never see again in our lifetime.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert Matlock, and her parents, Richard Bryant and Fern Fagg. She is survived by her daughter, Kathi Warren of Crane; sister Audrey Keenan of El Dorado, Kansas; brother Forrest Bryant and wife Kally of Kansas City, Missouri; grandson Matt Warren and wife Marissa of Andrews; granddaughter Jaice Salcedo and husband Rodolfo of Crane; and 6 great grandchildren.
