SHELIA JEAN BLANSCET
McCAMEY: Shelia Jean Blanscet, age 62, of McCamey, TX, passed away in Odessa, TX, on June 21, 2009.
Services will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at the Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home Chapel in McCamey with interment in the Resthaven Cemetery in McCamey. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9:00 am until 8:00 pm.
Shelia was born on April 3, 1947, in Gorman, TX, to Hubert B. and Mary Fenwick Adams. She graduated from McCamey High School in 1964 and received a degree in cosmetology in 1967. Shelia married James Blanscet on Dec. 29, 1967. They were owners of McCamey Auto Parts. Shelia worked for many years in the office of Dr. JL Cooper and then worked her way up to Office Manager of The McCamey Hospital. In 1995 her health made it impossible for her to continue with her work.
Shelia's favorite "job" was as mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Though she was bound to a wheel chair, Shelia didn't let that minor obstacle keep her from living a happy and productive life. Most people wouldn't have been able to overcome the obstacles her health presented, but Shelia's positive outlook on life and her determination to enjoy her family and especially her grandchildren gave her the strength to carry on. She always enjoyed visiting with everyone and loved reminiscing.
Shelia was survived by her husband, James Blanscet of McCamey, daughters Dawn Fay of McCamey, and Christy Maynard and her husband, Billy, of Crane, parents Hubert and Mary Adams of McCamey, brother Leslie Adams and wife Deanne of McCamey, grandchildren Heath Andrew, Trey Chavez, Patrick Chavez, Chris Chavez and wife Annette, Shelbey Maynard, Hunter Maynard, Jake Maynard. Great grandchildren Ava Andrew, Shawn Chavez and Zachary Chavez. Father and Mother-in-law Clarence and Thelma Blanscet of Arlington, TX, and sister-in-laws Wanda Gressett and Lenora Blanscet of Arlington, TX, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Shelia's smile and off the wall sense of humor will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Pallbearers will be Marvin King, Lowell Rhoades, Will Kennedy, Leon Patrick, Bruce Grady and JJ Ramirez. Honorary pallbearers will be George Streigler, David O'Haver, Tommy Johnson, Sid Harrison, Wayne Smith, Ray Purdy, George Berry, James Gunnels and Dave Walters.
