SANTOS MORALES
IRAAN: Santos Morales was born on May 29, 1934 in San Jose de Aura, Coahuila. He went to be with our Lord on July 13, 2008. As a young man he left his home in search of a better life and to help support his parents that he left at the ripe age of 15 years old. He found work on the John Mitchell Ranch, but after a few months felt as though destiny had better opportunities for him else-where. He once again set out on foot and about daybreak he was approached by Mr. Jeff Owens riding Tom Dooley, a young horse. This meeting was what set him up for the next 45-year journey with the Owens Family Ranch. Santos later returned home to marry the love of his life, Petra Vasquez and bring her to the Owens Ranch on October 22, 1960. It was where he raised their three children, Luis, Amalia, and Yolanda. He was a supporter of the Iraan school system and his children's activities from academics, FFA, to athletics. On his time he enjoyed trapping, attending to livestock, and making sure his wife was happy by taking her dancing on Saturday nights. This became a ritual that went on for 52 years. Santos never met a stranger, and always had a welcoming handshake and greeting smile that would stay with you forever. Santos was a member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church Mission in Sheffield.
He is survived by his wife Petra Morales of Iraan; his three children, Luis A. Morales of Iraan; Amelia (Molly) Rendon and her husband Santiago of Fort Worth, and Yolanda Garcia and her husband Damian of Waxahachie, TX; four grandchildren, Santiago Lee Rendon, Marina M. Rendon, Nathan A. Garcia, and Alec D. Garcia; three brothers, Jesus Morales of San Antonio, Felipe Morales of Dallas, and Luis Morales of Grand Prairie, TX; and a sister, Sara Diaz of San Jose de Aura, Coahuila.
