Ruth Jayne Steele Loftin

Ruth Jayne Steele Loftin, age 89, left her earthly home for her heavenly one on November 2, 2023.

She was born in Bruin, Butler County, Pennsylvania on October 5, 1934, to Lee Carl and Jennie Elizabeth Luce Steele who preceded her in death.  Ruth was also preceded in death by her husband, Joe Garner Loftin, her brothers: Lee Carl Steele (Junior), and Gordon Steele; her sister, Helen Elizabeth Steele Hurst.

Ruth is survived by her four children: Paula Loftin Hill of Rankin, Sheryl Loftin of Andrews, Richard Loftin (Cynthia) of Midkiff, and Judy Loftin Williams (Larry) of Rankin.  12 grandchildren: Bryan Loftin Hill of Austin, Amy Hill Joseph (Chris) of Austin, Joseph Scudder (Meredith) of Plano, Jay Scudder of Colorado, Heath Loftin (Amy) of Christoval, Richele Boyd (Michael) of San Angelo, Christine Owen (David) of Midkiff, Meagan Dean (Garrett) of Midkiff, Michael Rhodes (Katie) of Rankin, Jason Rhodes (Julie) of Colorado, Lauren Williams of Rankin, and Sarah Patterson (Jerod) of Alabama.  Ruth is also survived by 23 great grandchildren and 7 nieces.

Ruth moved to Texas in 1936.  She attended school in Ft. Stockton and McCamey.  She graduated from McCamey High School in 1953 and moved to Rankin.  She eventually worked as the Rankin ISD cafeteria manager and was always a homemaker.  Ruth loved her family and was always willing to help others in any way.  She will be missed by all of her family and friends.

Services will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at the First United Methodist Church in Rankin with Mandy Tyndale officiating.  Burial will follow in the Rankin Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be her six grandsons.
