Roy W. Kephart, 76, of McCamey, passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at the McCamey Convalescent Center.
Memorial services will be held at 7:00 PM on Friday, December 14, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church in McCamey with Reverends Ken Houston and David Snodgrass officiating. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
Roy was born on June 10, 1936 in Clearfield, Pennsylvania. He had lived in McCamey since 1983. Roy retired from Shell Pipeline in 1991. After retiring, he and his wife Alice enjoyed traveling. They lived their summers in Chama, New Mexico, and winters in McCamey. Roy was a huge supporter of the 4-H program in Upton County as well as other youth activities. Roy enjoyed spending time in his yard working with his pecan trees, and had grown award winning pecans. He also enjoyed spending time at the coffee shop drinking coffee with his friends. Roy never met a stranger. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in McCamey.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; and his son, Rusty Kephart who passed away in 2006.
He is survived by his loving wife, Alice Kephart of McCamey; his son, Rod Kephart of Chama, NM; his daughter, Arlene Kephart of McCamey; two grandsons, Paul Brown and his wife Elizabeth, and Randy Brown, all of McCamey; a great grandson, Royce Brown of McCamey; and one brother, Merlin Kephart of New York.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Upton County 4-H; or to a charity of your choice.
