Romulo G. Baiza, 70, of McCamey, passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2014, in Odessa.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, September 4, 2014, at the First Baptist Church in McCamey with Reverend Angel Armendarez officiating. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery with arrangements under the care and direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
Romulo was born on February 15, 1944 in Big Bend, to parents Carlos D. and Angelita G. Baiza. He was a loving, genuine and caring man and an angel for those fortunate enough to know him. He had a huge heart and wanted to assist others in any way possible. Through his actions he was able to touch many individuals. Throughout his life, Romulo shared his love for hunting, fishing and camping with friends and loved ones. In his spare time he enjoyed working with his dear friend Tommy Johnson on his ranch, and helping people in need. For his family he served as the anchor that brought everyone together and kept the family strong. Through his actions, many generations have bonded and will continue his legacy. He worked for Upton County for over forty years, retiring at the age of 67 years old. Preceding Romulo in death, is his mother Angelica Baiza, father Carlos Baiza, brothers Augustine Baiza, Jake Baiza, Jacobo Baiza, and Antonio Baiza.
Survivors include his wife, Tina Baiza of McCamey; five sons, Jack Sanchez and his wife Rosie of Ft. Stockton, Romolo Baiza of San Antonio, Randy Baiza and his wife Kim of Kerrville, Sabino Castaneda and Pablo Baiza and his wife Kayleigh, both McCamey; two daughters, Lupe Baiza and her husband Mario Marquez of Kerrville, and Isadoria and her husband Jimmy Bermudez of McCamey; three sisters, Mary Hernandez of Nebraska, Sarah Hinojosa of McCamey, and Dora Grupe of Del Rio; two brothers, Pascual Baiza of Ft. Stockton, and Epifano Baiza of Odessa; 22 grandchildren, Jackson Sanchez, Jasmin Winston, Laura Baiza, Maydara Baiza, Mariah Marquez, Jathon Marquez, Romolo Baiza III, Rosina Baiza, Desireé Kelley, Doran Baiza, Danielle Baiza, Drue Baiza, Diego Castaneda, Elijah Castaneda, Gavin Castaneda, Gabby Granado, Pablo Baiza Jr., Daneih Baiza, Vanessa Baiza, Kariz Baiza, Izaiah Baiza, Lyrick Joshlin, and one on the way; and 7 great grandchildren, Zane Baiza, Lauryn Venegas, Jaelynn Rivas, Madilyn Rivas, Avaery Baiza, Adalyn Baiza, and Ajah Kelley.
