Robert Leslie Adams, 62, of McCamey passed away peacefully on Friday night at his home surrounded by his family after a courageous struggle with cancer. Leslie was a lifelong resident of McCamey and a graduate of McCamey High School in 1966. He spent most of his life working in the oilfields around McCamey where he was a pumper and operated an oilfield service company. He also spent 10 years in the Dallas/Ft. Worth/Oklahoma City area where he was shop supervisor for an OTR trucking company. He returned to McCamey in 2000 to be closer to the grandkids and worked for Sandridge Energy until 2009 when he was no longer able to work.
Leslie was preceded in death by his son, Jason, on Dec. 4, 2001. He was also preceded in death by his father, Hubert Adams, and his sister, Shelia Blanscet. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Deanne, his son, Rob Adams and wife Pam, his mother, Mary Adams; grandchildren Erin, Shelbi, McKenna, Gunner and Avery and great granddaughter Oakley, all of McCamey; Father-in-law, M.C. Duncan and wife Emma of San Angelo, Brother and Sister-in-law Dwayne and Kathy Duncan of Levelland, Sister-in-law Debra Duncan of McCamey; numerous nieces and nephews. He was also blessed with a few chosen friends whose company and devotion over the past few months meant so much to him.
Memorial services will be at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in McCamey with services officiated by Reverend Byron Bittner.
