Rob Adams

Rob Adams love of life didn’t come to an end with his death.   Rob passed away on March 16, 2024, at the age of 55 suddenly and unexpectedly.  He left a big loving family who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest.  He will live on through all of us.

Services will be held Thursday, March 21, 2024, at 11:00 am at the McCamey 4-H Event Center.  Officiated by Ted Creech of Bethel Baptist Church, McCamey, TX.  

He was born to Leslie & Deanne Adams on December 24, 1968, in Abilene, TX.  He went all twelve years of school at McCamey ISD where he thrived on athletics.

He married Pam Mitchel, his high school sweetheart, on April 15, 2000, in Las Vegas, NV.

He started work for Oxy Petroleum on July 17, 2006, and had advanced to Construction Specialist.  During his time there he made lifelong friends, who will long remember his daily aggravating antics and sense of humor.

Rob was a Badger through and through and he was President of the Booster Club for many years.  He bled orange & black. You would NEVER catch him in red!  He was outstanding in high school sports, or at least that was his story, and he took credit for his children when they excelled.  He loved coaching kids.  When his children were playing, he always had a team of boys or girls   football, basketball, baseball, and softball.  One of his happiest moments of coaching was when he and Troy Perryman coached Gunner’s 14U USSSA baseball team, The Dirtbags, and won the World Series.    

He served as a volunteer fireman for several years.  He was elected several terms to the school board and served as President the last four years.  

His pride and joy was his family, especially his kids and grandkids.   Anytime he could think of an excuse to get everybody together, he would.  Whether it was grilling in the backyard or going on a week long trip he loved spending time with family.  He usually planned the trips.  There were several July 4^th’s on South Padre, February’s in Ruidoso or Angel Fire, Memorial Day floating the Frio and having crawfish boils or just going to the lake tubing and swimming.  He planned them all because he wanted to spend time with family.

He was a good ‘ol country boy with a heart for the outdoors.  He was passionate about hunting and fishing mostly because that is where he found his peace.  But that’s also where many memories were made with family and friends.   

He was preceded in death by his father, Leslie Adams, and his brother Jason Adams. His grandparents Slick and Louise Duncan, paternal grandparents Hubert and Frankie Adams, Father-in-Law, Pete Mitchel and Raymond Hoffman, Brother-in-Law Jimmy Mitchel, and Sister-in-Law Tamela Mitchel.

Rob is survived by his wife of 24 years, Pam.  His daughters Erin and husband Robert Mann of Greenwood, Shelbi and husband Cody Zamora of McCamey, McKenna and fiancé Ben Chasey of Meriden, CT, Avery “The Princess” who is a student at Texas State University and a son Gunner Adams and wife Maddox of McCamey.  Eight grandchildren, Oakley Mann, Gentry Mann, Britton Mann, Colton Zamora, Raven Zamora, Kinsley Zamora, Blakely Adams and Lainey Adams.  His mother, Deanne Adams of McCamey.  Mother in law, Brenda Hoffman of McCamey.  His buddy, Duncan Greenwood of McCamey.  Lots of aunts and uncles and cousins and many, many great friends, all of whom will miss him every day.
