Reymundo G. Tovar, resident of Crane, Texas for 48 years, passed away on May 15, 2018. Reymundo was born in Buena Vista, Texas on March 15, 1933. In 1970, he moved to Crane from Imperial, Texas and was a retired Crane County employee.
He married his wife, Lydia Tovar on October 25, 1958 and were married for 59 years. He was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Crane. Reymundo enjoyed traveling, camping, and fishing as much as possible and planting gardens in the summer. He always had a project to work on, tinkering in his shop, and all the while whistling while he worked
He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Luis Tovar, Felipe Tovar, and Simon Tovar, 3 sisters, Pabla Kiser, Elpidia Tovar, and Adela Jaquez, and one son Alvin Tovar of Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Reymundo is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lydia Tovar; 2 brothers, Favian Tovar of Crane and Marcos Tovar of Odessa; 2 sisters, Elidia Vejil of Crane and Isabela Gonzales of Ft. Stockton; one son, Lloyd Tovar and wife Cyndy of Kansas City, Missouri; 6 daughters, Ida Ramirez and husband Danny of Odessa, Sylvia Solis and husband Joel of Midland, Nelia Washington and husband Cliff of Odessa, Elaine Tovar and partner Martin Estrada of Odessa, Syndi Cadena and husband Vidal (Tinker) of Crane; and a granddaughter he considered as a daughter, LaToya Flores and husband Ricky Flores of Crane. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday May 17, 2018 from 9am-7pm at Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home in Crane, Texas. Rosary will be held Thursday evening from 7pm-9pm. Services will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Crane, Friday May 18, 2018 at 11:00 am, followed by graveside services at Crane County Cemetery. Pallbearers are Casey Solis, Derek Ramirez, Eric Tovar, Tinker Cadena, Joel Solis, Cliff Washington, Nelia Washington, Martin Estrada, and Honorary Danny Ramirez.
