Raymond Hudson, 86 of Crane, passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2011 at the Crane Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at the Johnsonâs Funeral Home Chapel in San Angelo with Reverend Jim Hester officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairmount Cemetery with Military Honors.
Ray was born on June 30, 1924 in Breckenridge, Texas. He enlisted in the Navy at the age of 17 on September 30, 1942. He proudly served during WWII on the USS Whitney and the USS Erben. Ray was honorably discharged on October 20, 1945. Ray has lived in Crane since 1974. He had owned and operated the Ray Hudson Body Shop before his retirement. He was active with his children, being a Cub Scout pack leader, and a little league baseball coach. Ray was also a member of the Cross and Crown Church in Crane.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis Francis and Melvina Roberts Hudson; five brothers; one sister; and one great-granddaughter.
Ray is survived by his loving wife of 64 years of marriage, Iralene âSnookieâ âHoneyâ Hudson of Crane; four sons, Clint Hudson and his wife Sherry of Odessa, Ray Hudson and his wife Suzanne of Lexington, Kentucky, Steve Hudson of Odessa, and Lyn Hudson and his wife Patti of Andrews; one daughter, Cherri Brents and her husband Butch of Crane; 12 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandson.
