Peggy Jean Perry

Peggy Jean Perry was born March 25, 1938 to Homer Tirl and Myrtle Bonney.

Peggy attended school in McCamey and Pecos Texas. She graduated from McCamey High School.

Peggy married the love of her life in 1957, Jack Alvin Perry. She often told a story that she would hang out clothes every afternoon to catch a glimpse and a possible hello from him as he arrived home from work each day. Jack was her neighbor. Her plan obviously worked. Jack and Peggy had been married 57 years when he preceded her in death. Any time you were around her she spoke of “My Jack.”   As a young lady she had aspirations of becoming a housewife. She stated that desire in her high school annual as a Junior. After her and Jack were wed they had four children. Peggy was always busy trying to help. She worked at her Mother's cleaners; sold Tupperware; worked at the drive-in theater, and baked cakes for all occasions.  She decorated hundreds of cakes over the years. The smell of fresh baked cake was a constant in her kitchen. It was always a treat to get fresh trimmings and butter them up!

Peggy became Na-Na after the arrival of grandchildren.  She was always around school, church, and sporting events with an open free concession stand out of the back of her van.  She quickly gained the love of many of the children around town.  She always loved helping others.  Peggy cared deeply for the elderly women of the church that needed help and spent countless hours caring for them.  Meals, rides, whatever their needs were.

Peggy loved listening to a scanner and keeping up with what was happening around town.  She may or may not have had a hand in toilet papering a few homes in town.  The grandkids were definitely treated to many of her shenanigans.  She deeply loved her family and friends.  She would always tell you, “I love you with all my heart.”

Over the years she gained recognition for her lifelong contributions to the community.  She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ.  Peggy deeply loved gathering the family and taking them Christmas caroling.  She could sit for hours and listen to her family sing songs from the Church hymnal.  Peggy could spend a week shopping and be ready to go some more.  She loved shopping for just about anything but hanging flower baskets topped the list. 

Another favorite past time of hers was spending time with Jack at their lake get away in Del Rio, TX.  They loved spending time alone, or with family, on Lake Amistad.

Peggy Jean Perry, Na-Na, was preceded in death by a Sister Nancy Bonney, Father Homer Tirl Bonney, Mother Myrtle Reynolds Bonney, Husband Jack Alvin Perry, Daughter Connie Kay Perry, and Grandson Christopher Ross Walker.

She is survived by her Daughters Terri Jean Hall of McCamey, Becky Rene Wilson and husband Donnie of McCamey; Son Mickey Jack Perry and wife Brenda of Iraan; Sister Laura Buchanan and husband Mickie of Houston; one Niece Rene Buchanan Owens and husband Chip of Houston; 9 Grandchildren; and 13 Great Grandchildren.
