Life and Legacy Obituary for Reverend J. M. Jeffery
Jackie Marion Jeffery Sr. was born on August 30, 1950, in Crane, Texas to Richard and Charlie Mae Jeffery. Jackie gave his life to Christ as a child and regularly attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He received his formal education from Crane Independent School District where he attended Bethune School and graduated from Crane High School in 1969.
Upon graduating, Jackie furthered his education at Howard Payne University. He also attended Wayne State University, Odessa College, and the University of Texas of the Permian Basin. Additionally, he attended the West Texas Seminary, where he received his certification in Biblical Studies. Upon his departure, he was attending the Charles Stanley Institute to further his education in Biblical Studies. Pastor Jeffery was a master teacher on the Life of Jesus Christ and the Book of Romans.
For the past 34 years, he pastored Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He also served as pastor at King Solomon Baptist Church in Odessa, New Hope Baptist Church in Big Spring, and Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Alpine. He also served the Permian Basin District Association as Dean, President and Moderator. In addition, he served in the BM&E State Convention of Texas as an instructor. Pastor Jeffery taught with much fervor, wanting everyone to know and accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of their lives.
On June 26, 1972, Jackie married the love of his life and childhood sweetheart, Daisy Lane. To this union was born four beautiful children, Jackie Marion Jeffery Jr. (Buggy) of Midland, Christopher Paul Jeffery of Fort Worth, Ardrayda Nicole Jeffery of Crane, and Starla Elaine Kuforiji (Adedayo) of Sugar Land. In addition to their four biological children, Jackie and Daisy were blessed with beautiful “bonus” children, Gloria Miller (Desoto), Jerome Harmon (Desoto), Rodney Lane (Arlington), Heather Jeffery*, Hannah Jeffery (Fort Worth), Harold Jeffery (Odessa) Charlie Jeffery (Lubbock), Dominique Doss (Lubbock).
Their union grew significantly with the addition of their grandchildren, Devan Washington*, Jasmine Clay, Kristen Henry, Rausalyn Brown, Alexandria Washington, Antionette Allen, Ashley Jeffery, Krislyn Jeffery, Myckal Armendariz, Xavier Lee, Adedeji Kuforiji, N’Dia Jeffery, Justin Jeffery, Adedemola Kuforiji, Adenike Kuforiji, Kingston Jeffery, Bella Fortune, Maelie Fortune, Adele Kuforiji and Adeola Kuforiji. They were also blessed with their great-grandchildren, Alaina Miller, Jai Brown, Khiya Jeffery, and Princeton Armendariz.
In addition to his clan, he leaves to mourn his siblings, Gala Melton (Detroit, MI), Virginia Jones (Fort Worth), Lois Johnson (Odessa), Patricia Jeffery (Lubbock), Yolanda Jeffery (Lubbock) and Ronald Jeffery (Odessa).
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Stanton Jeffery; his mother Charlie Mae Jeffery; and his siblings, Glen Jeffery, Curtis Jeffery, Earnestine Vaden, Mary Doss, Leon Jeffery, and Donald Jeffery.
