Ofelia Bolanos Velasquez, 93 of Midland, and formerly of McCamey, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2016, at the Desert Gardens Nursing Home in Midland, Texas.
Rosary Service will be held at 7:00pm on Tuesday, January 19, 2016, at the Shaffer-Nichols Chapel in Crane. Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, January 20, 2016, at the Good Shephard Catholic Church in Crane with Father Laurent Mvondo officiating. Burial will follow in the Crane County Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home of Crane.
Ofelia was born on May 25, 1922, in Fort Stockton, Texas to Roberto and Rita Bolanos. She married Herminigildo A. Velasquez in 1937 in Fort Stockton.
Ofelia moved to McCamey in 1958, living there for 57 years. She then moved to Midland with her daughter and has lived there the past four years.
Ofelia was a longtime member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in McCamey. She loved to sew, quilt, and crochet. Ofelia loved flowers, and always had a beautiful flower garden.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Herminigildo; four children, Albertano Velasquez, Robert Velasquez, Florinda Zarate, and Ernest B. Velasquez; and two sisters, Maria Flores and Isabelle Ambris.
She is survived by her daughters, Eva Marquez of Midland, Rosaelva Villegas of Odessa, Lydia Tovar of Crane; her son, Oscar Velasquez Crane; 28 grandchildren; 79 great grandchildren; and 32 great great grandchildren.
