Neal Adams, 82, longtime resident of Midland and Upton Counties, and most recently of Post and San Angelo, passed away Monday morning at Meadowcreek Nursing Home in San Angelo.
Neal was born on November 26, 1931, in Midland, Texas, to Ava Lowe and Samuel Adams. He served in the army upon graduation from Midland High School. Upon his return from military service in Europe, he worked in the oil industry, later working for 30 years as a draftsman for Monterey Oil, which later became Exxon Corporation.
Neal Married Clair Anita Rice on July 19, 1958, in Alvord, Texas. He and Clair lived 19 years in Midland, where they had four children, before moving to Upton County. There they started the Two-Bit Ranch. He retired from Exxon in 1990, when he then began ranching full-time.
Neal was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Judith Ann Bryant, and son, Jeffrey Neal. He is survived by a brother, Don Adams of Midland, a sister, Doris Cleaver of Aztec New Mexico, his wife, Clair, daughters Stephanie James and husband Kevin of San Angelo, Anne Marie Aubin and husband Daryl of Gonzales, Texas, and son David Adams and wife Pam of San Angelo. He also is survived by grandchildren Menda and Casey Mund, Ashley and Chance Brinker, Case Aubin, Aaron James, Callie Aubin, Samuel Adams, John Adams, and great-granddaughter Brynlee Mund.
Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Crane, Texas at 2:00 p.m. Thursday.
