Morris Lee Strand, 74 of Crane, passed away on Friday, April 15, 2011 at the Hospice House in Odessa.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, April 18, 2011 at the Mary Street Church of Christ in Crane with Ministers Hoby Strand and Mike Riley officiating. Burial will follow in the Crane County Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
Morris was born on June 9, 1936 in Stamford, Texas. He had lived in Crane since 1962. Morris retired from Arco Oil and Gas in December of 1993 after 32 years of service. He was an active member of Mary Street Church of Christ. Morris had been a member of the Crane Jay Cee’s; and the 4-H organization. He served on the Crane City Council for four years; the hospital board of directors; the appraisal board and review board. Morris had also started the men’s softball league in Crane.
He is survived by his wife, Glenda Strand of Crane; three daughters, DiAnna Lee Joiner and her husband Michael of Menard, Debbie Ruth Pope, and Sandra Darlene Stanley and her husband Billy all of Odessa; three brothers, Billy G. Strand and his wife Barbara of Clovis, NM, Darvan F. Strand and his wife Jeanette of Tucumcari, NM, and Tommie F. Strand and his wife Nancy of Gardendale, TX; 4 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
