Mickie Lane Stephens, 84, of College Station, Texas, passed away on June 10 after a long illness.
Mickie was born on November 19, 1936, in Fisher County, Texas to the late Jasper and Esther Stephens. The family moved to McCamey in 1952 where he attended high school and met the love of his life, Sheri Fisher. Mickie and Sheri were married in 1956 and were blessed with 4 children: Rick, Wes, David, and Mary.
With his brother Tommy, Mickie started S & S Electric Company, serving the oilfield community for over 35 years before retiring in 1999.
Mickie enjoyed spending time with family and friends, hunting, fishing, and raising and racing quarter horses. He attended First Baptist Church in McCamey. In 2019, after Sheri's retirement, they moved to College Station.
Mickie was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Roy, Ross, and Tommy. His memory will be cherished by his wife, Sheri, children, Rickie and wife Debbie of Houston, Wesley and wife Shanda of Rankin, David and wife Stephanie of Fredericksburg, Mary Nelson and husband Barry of Bryan, 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on June 16 at First Baptist Church in McCamey, under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home with Mr. Byron Bitner officiating.
Floral remembrances may be sent to Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home, 1503 Andrews Highway, Crane, Texas. The family asks that any monetary donations be made in Mickie's name to the American Lung Association.
