Marilyn "Mickie" McKenzie, 83, of Bakersfield, Texas, joined the love of her life Roy Neal McKenzie on August 30, 2017. Mickie was born to Ed and Violet (Keller) Jaeger on September 4, 1933 in Chicago, Illinois. Mickie left Chicago at the age of 17 to follow her dream of becoming a cowgirl. She joined the All Girl Rodeo Association riding bulls and broncs which led her to Fort Stockton, Texas where she met Roy Neal McKenzie. Together they raised two daughters, Linda and Jody. While raising two daughters Mickie not only graduated from Sul Ross State University, but did it in two years with honors. Mickie went on to teach numerous high school students, ride motorcycles, fly airplanes, and anything else she put her mind to. She loved West Texas and the ranching lifestyle. She was one of a kind and will be missed dearly.
Mickie is survived by her daughters, Linda and husband Ben Webb of Bakersfield, TX, Jody and husband Dr. Mike Ozier of Wichita Falls, TX, Marilyn Gladson of San Angelo, TX; Sons, Dee Sims and wife Paula of Veribest, TX, Rex McKenzie and wife Mary of San Angelo Tx.; brother, Eddie Jaeger of Tennessee. "Nanny" was also loved by her numerous grandkids and great grandkids.
Mickie was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Roy Neal Mckenzie; son, Neal McKenzie; granddaughter, Shanna Lea Ozier; brother, Richard Jaeger.
Services will be held at Flying V Ranch, Bakersfield TX, Friday, September 1, 2017, at 10:00 a.m.
