Marie Massey

Marie Rose Massey was born on February 24, 1948 in Henryetta, Ok to Everette Wils and Stella Rose Kuykendall.  She passed away at home on May 8, 2023.

Her family relocated to Hobbs, New Mexico in 1949.   They stayed in Hobbs until 1965 when her dad was transferred to Crane with Gulf Oil Company.  She graduated from Crane High School in 1966.

She met the love of her life Randy Massey while working in the parts department at Carter’s Chevrolet.  They were married on November 24, 1970.  They raised their 2 children Thomas Randall Massey and Marisa Michelle Massey in Crane. Marie helped her husband at Napa Auto Parts and in 1981 she took a job at Crane ISD where she retired from in 2004.  During retirement she enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and following them to all their school functions and sporting events. 

She is preceded in death by her husband of 11 years, her mother and father.  Her brother Earnest Kuykendall, her nephews Wesley Ray Kennedy & Billy “Bubba” Kennedy. 

She is survived by her son and daughter.  Her grandson Marq Esparza and wife Stephanie, grandson Connor Randall and granddaughter Cailynn Rose Cavazos all of Crane.  3 great-grandsons Michael, Jacob & Lucas Esparza of Crane.  Sister Della Kennedy and husband Billy Frank Kennedy of Rankin, Niece Cindy Portman and husband Barry Portman of Midland, numerous great nieces and nephews.

The viewing will be held from 11am to 8pm Thursday May 11, 2023, at the Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on May 12, 2023, at 9am at the Crane Memorial Cemetery.
