Manuel B. Luna passed away peacefully from this life in the early morning of June 9, 2011 at the age of 87. He was 1 of 13 children born to Eliseo and Antonia Luna on May 30, 1924 in Imperial, Texas.
He married the love of his life of 60 years, Maggie on February 24, 1951 in Fort Stockton, Texas.
Manuel retired from McCamey ISD in 1987 after 30 years of service. He was a Cursillista and Eucharistic Minister at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He loved the Dallas Cowboys and the McCamey Badgers.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Irene Prementine.
Manuel is survived by his wife, Maggie Luna of McCamey; a son, Henry Luna and his wife Anna of Fort Stockton; four daughters, Angie Saenz and her husband Rene of Odessa, Hope Salgado and her husband Joe of San Antonio, Annie Ochoa and her husband Albert of Snyder, and Carmen Acosta and Mel of Horseshoe Bay; another son, Adrian Luna and Sandra of McCamey; a brother, Frank Luna of Lake Arthur, NM; a sister, Tiburcia Alvarado of Crane. He is also survived by the joys of his life, 14 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10AM on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in McCamey with Father Laurent Mvondo and Deacon Julio Carrasco officiating. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery with arrangements under the care and direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be his five son-in-laws along with his eldest grandchild, Gabriel Acosta.
