Louis Edward Simpson (Skinner) was born July 23, 1949 in Brownwood, Texas to Bob Watson & Cecil Mae Jones.  Lewis gave his life to Christ at an early age, his final membership was with Mt. Zion Baptist Church serving under the Leadership of the late Reverend Jackie M. Jeffery, Sr. Last year Louis came before the church and gave a testimony about how he has accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.  He also stated his Love for Jesus for the forgiveness of his sins.  He said “I know the Lord and I want the Church to know I love you all.”  He said he know he hasn’t always been a Believer and did the right things but he was on the right road now and he thanked Jesus for saving him.  He asked us to pray for his family as well and we did.  He said he was happy to be a part of the Church.  Louis was the President of the Brotherhood and Trustee for several years as well as a member of the Building Fund Committee and the Pastor’s Aide Committee while he served at Mount Zion.

He received his formal education from Andrews ISD, where he graduated from Andrews High School in 1968.  After graduation Louis enlisted in the United States Army at the age of 19 and served his Country honorably in the 5th Infantry Division.  He is a Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal; Combat Infantryman Badge, Vietnam Service Medal W/1 Bronze Service Star, Army Commendation Medal and two Purple Hearts.

Louis was employed as a Field Specialist at Chevron for many years. He enjoyed playing bingo, fishing, cooking and loved clipping coupons.  He loved travelling from Texas to Florida and Florida to Texas. He and his Service Dog, “Missy” whom he loved “a lot” were well known wherever they went. The neighborhood could hear him yelling early in the morning       “Missy” come back here!!

On December 25, 2022 in Midland, Carolyn, the daughters and two of his nieces surrendered Louis to God, the Author and Finisher of their faith.  Louis now rests from life’s labor to sleep with his father, Bob Watson; mother, Cecil Mae Jones; sister, Wanda (Bobbie) Jones, and other family members.
