LOLA MAE NOTTAGE
Lola Mae Nottage, 83, of Ardmore, OK and formerly of Las Vegas, NV,
passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2010, at Medical Center Hospital in
Odessa, TX.
Lola was born on April 15, 1926, in Tampa, Florida, to Florence and
Charles Alsobrook. She was one of eleven children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Charles, Wenona,
Juanita, Marjory, Earl, Van, and Connie, and two husbands, Anthony
Nottage and Allan Chazel.
Lola is survived by her twin sister Zola, and sisters Francis, and
Florence (Elaine), and 4 children, Sandra Downey and husband Bill Downey
of Ardmore, OK; Allan Chazel and wife Ann-marie of Las Vegas, NV;
Richard Chazel of Las Vegas, NV; and Candy Chazel, of Odessa, TX.
Surviving grandchildren include Bill Downey, Helen Romeiser, Mike
Downey, Rachael McAden, Crystal Chazel, Brett Chazel, and Carmie Shae
Chazel. She also leaves behind many great-grandchildren and 2
great-great grandchildren.
For 21 years, Lola worked as a blackjack dealer at the famous Harold's
Club in Reno, NV, which was considered the first modern casino. She was
known by all for having an unmatched work-ethic, and amazed her family
all the time by taking on enormous tasks requiring great skill and
physical strength. Though she had little formal education, she was a
bright woman who could build, grow, or make anything. Lola was a very
giving person, always placing others first, and could often be found
sewing or baking something for family members.
While there will be no formal memorial services for Lola, she was
surrounded by family at her death. She will be laid to rest in Utah
where she loved to pass time fishing for trout.
