Librado Meraz, 86, of McCamey, passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, TX.
Librado was born on October 24, 1937, in Mexico. He was married to Martha Elva Meraz who preceded him in death.
Librado loved to sit on the porch and talk to people and enjoyed drinking coffee and smoking. He also liked walking and collecting cans, and cleaning copper. Most of all he loved talking and joking around with people.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jesus Meraz and sisters Concession Tarango, Luz Tarango, brothers Pedro Meraz, Pablo Meraz, and Manuel Meraz.
Survivors include his kids-four sons, Francisco Meraz, Librado Meraz Jr., and Heriberto Meraz, all of McCamey; and Raul Meraz of Midland; four daughters, Ana Luisa Baeza and Elia Vallez, both of Midland, Barbara Gallardo and Martha Elva Meraz, both of McCamey; 22 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters Eduviges Hernandez and Romana Melendez.
Viewing will be Saturday, August 31, 2024, 12:00pm until 9:00pm, Sunday, September 1, 2024 from 9:00am until 9:00pm at the Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home in McCamey. Rosary will be held 7:00pm on Sunday. Mass will be held at 11:00 Monday, September 2, 2024, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Daniel Velez, Albert Meraz, Eddie Meraz, Jr., Efrain Baeza, Jr., Manuel Meraz, and Fabien Meraz.
