Lewis William Cass Sr., 93, of Crane, passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2013, at the Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
Graveside services with Military Honors will be held 10 am on Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at the Crane County Cemetery with Minister Jonathan Young officiating. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home of Crane.
Lewis was born on September 17, 1919, in Lakewood, NM. He was a WWII Veteran, having served in the United States Army. Lewis married Ruby Ellis on December 3, 1949 in Midland, Texas. They moved to Crane in 1967. He retired in 1982 as a sales representative from National Production Systems. Lewis was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Crane. He served on the board, as well as serving as a Sunday school teacher for many years. On many weekends, you would find Lewis and Fred Field working around the church. His family and his church were most important to him. Lewis also loved to go fishing in Colorado, as well as going on trail rides in New Mexico.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; and one brother.
Survivors include his wife Ruby Cass of Crane; two sons, Bill Cass and his wife Paula of Crane, and Joel Cass and his wife JoAnn of Austin; two grandchildren, Gigi Young and her husband Jonathan of Crane, and Nancy Bruno and her husband Captain Nathan Bruno of Pensacola, FL; and two great grandchildren Natalie Young and Jack Young.
