Leldon (Sandy) Roy Greer was born on June 28, 1947, in Monahans, Texas.
He passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2019, at Regency House in San Angelo, Texas.
Leldon married Peggy Solsbery on May 17, 1986, in San Angelo, Texas.
He was a Christian man and a member of the First Baptist Church in Imperial. In his younger years, he taught the young people in Sunday school.
Leldon was active in his community. He served on the Buena Vista School Board for 8 years and ran the clock for home football games for 30 years.
He was a long-time member of the Lions Club, having served in many capacities. Leldon was a member of the Imperial Volunteer Fire Department-serving many years. After he was elected Fire Chief, he served in the position until he retired. He was also a certified EMT and ran on the ambulance as a volunteer for years. Leldon was elected Justice of the Peace for Precinct 4 and Pecos County for several years. He owned and operated the Fina Station in Imperial for 42 years until his retirement.
He loved spending time with his kids and grandkids and the many things they were able to do together.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elsworth Greer and Lahoma Rixie Greer; brother Dan Greer; and sister, Laureen Greer Terzich.
Leldon is survived by his wife, Peggy Greer of San Angelo; sons Russell Greer and wife Jennifer of Helena, Alabama, Junior Tackett of San Angelo; daughters DeAna Mediano and husband Fred of San Angelo, Edverna Allen and husband Dan of Gardendale, and Kaynette Pair of San Angelo; sister, Eloma Ashwin of Kingsland, TX; 13 Grandchildren-Ryan, Jobie, Leilani & Joshia Greer, Lahoma Martin, Rusty & Candace Tackett, Silena Townsend and husband Roger, Eli Boatright and wife Tiffany, Talon Cacy and wife Marii, Kayne Cacy, LaDonna Broddrick, and Hardy Boatright; 10 Great-grandkids-Ryan, Leldon Gage, Kayden and Korbin, Nova, Callie , Tanelle, Dani, Peyton, and Taron; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be at the First Baptist Church in Imperial starting on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at 4:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at the Church with Reverend John Buck Love officiating. Burial will follow in the Imperial Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home of Crane.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, or to Hospice of San Angelo.
