Leland L. Mann, 85, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2014.
Lee was born in Chappell, Nebraska on May 31, 1929. His parents were Leland, who worked for the Union Pacific Railroad, and Belle, a housewife.
He married his sweetheart Dottie in Scottsbluff, Nebraska on April 12, 1952. They moved with Marathon Oil Company to Texas in 1963 and to Iraan in 1975 where they continued to live after Lee retired. Lee enjoyed hunting arrowheads, lapidary work, hunting and fishing with his family and friends.
After retirement, he and Dottie enjoyed RV life and square dancing. Nothing compared to the enjoyment they found in spending time with their children and grandchildren. They traveled to the Texas panhandle numerous times to support the grandchildren who were active in sports, one act play and enjoying the outdoors. His friends and family enjoyed receiving the beautiful jewelry, buckles, bolo ties, etc. that Lee made from the rocks found in a variety of states visited by the two of them.
Lee is preceded in death by his wife of 6o years, his parents and his sister Shirley. He is survived by his children Karen Lynette Mann of Dallas, Rex Leland Mann and wife Donna of Perryton, and Cheryl Lisa Mann of Dallas and his grandchildren Jenny Mann Russell and husband Tyler of Dallas, Charlie Mann and wife Kristen of Canadian, and Mark Mann and wife Caitlyn of San Antonio, his sister-in-law Darlene Luth of Scottsbluff and his cousins, nieces and nephews.
Services were held at First United Methodist Church, Iraan, Texas at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2014.
