Larry F. Baker

Larry F. Baker, 69, of McCamey passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2013 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
Larry was born November 24, 1943 in Evant, Texas. He went all 12 years of school in McCamey and graduated in 1963. He was well remembered as a talented football player receiving a scholarship to Oklahoma State at Stillwater, Oklahoma. He also attended Sul Ross University in Alpine. Football injuries ended his college career and he became a plumber after meeting Ann Perkins whose father apprenticed him. He was a plumber in McCamey for over 30 years before being disabled and forced to retire.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John C. and Ova Baker, a sister- Fern Scott, two brothers- Bill Baker and Gene Baker.
Survivors include three brothers: Dariel Baker and his wife Sue of Evansville, IN, David Baker of Odessa, John Baker and his wife Theresa of McCamey, and one sister, Judy Eyler and her husband Bill of McCamey, also many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. Specials friends were Tom and Gail Molder and Billy Dee Locklin.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of McCamey Hospital and McCamey Convalescent Center.
Memorials may be made in honor of Larry to the McCamey Convalescent Center or the charity of your choice.
An informal memorial service will be held in the fellowship hall of First Baptist Church McCamey on Friday, March 1, 2013 at 2:00 p.m.
A formal graveside service will be held in Hamilton, Texas on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 2:00 p.m.
