L. R. Williams

CRANE: L.R. Williams passed away on January 8, 2011 while being cared for at the Hospice House in Odessa.
L.R. was 88 years old having been born to Luther Renno (L.R.) and Carrie (Brown) Williams in Scranton, Texas on February 2, 1922. L.R. met Peggie Jean Mayers in Abilene, TX and they married on May 7, 1946.
L.R. was the president of Mechanical Seal and Service and retired in 1982. L.R.'s previous experience with both the CCC and the US Army Engineering battalion in World War II led him to design and build a number of homes in the Permian Basin. Both L.R. and Peg were members of the Church of Christ and, most recently were active at Crescent Park Church of Christ in Odessa. L.R. and Peg became Enrolled Agents with the IRS and opened their own tax preparation business, Mobile Tax Service.
L.R. was preceded in death by his beloved Peggie Jean on July 18, 2010. L.R. was a great student, teacher, pastor, and advisor of Christ's ways and life, and modeled his life after the teachings of Christ.
L.R. is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral services for L.R. Williams will be held in Crane on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at 2:00 pm in the Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home, with minister Michael Smith officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to your local hospice organization.
