IRAAN: Katie Whitefield, 82 of Iraan, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2009 at the Pecos County General Hospital in Iraan.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 2, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church in Iraan with Reverend Eddie Whitefield officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
Katie was born on March 18, 1927 in Breckenridge, Texas. She married Carlos Whitefield, Jr. on March 15, 1947 in Iraan. She had lived in Iraan since 1995; and was member of the First United Methodist Church; and the Beta Sigma Phi.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Rose Murphy; her husband Carlos Whitefield, Jr.; and two half brothers, Pat Murphy and Richard Bankston.
Survivors include her son, Wesley Whitefield of Iraan; three daughters, Deborah Joy, and Carol Calvert and her husband James, all of Iraan, and Jeanine Badgett and her husband Reggie of Midland; her sister, Merle Truesdell of San Angelo; one half sister, Elizabeth Coerver and her husband Val of Houston; two half brothers, Clifford Murphy of Conroe, and Mike Murphy and his wife Bonnie of Bremond, TX; and one half sister-in-law, Claudette Murphy of Conroe; 10 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren.
