Katie M. Wheeler, 76, of Crane, passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2014, in Midland.
Funeral services will be held at 10am on Friday, August 22, 2014, at the Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home Chapel in Crane with Pastor Tim King officiating. Burial will follow in the Crane County Cemetery.
Katie was born on April 19, 1938, in Scott County, Mississippi. Katie married Kenneth Wheeler on July 12, 1952, in Mississippi. She was a homemaker and a longtime resident of Crane. Katie was member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church. She loved gardening and spending time outside. She loved to cook and was an avid stamp collector. Katie loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Felicia Adams, and Cindy Tucker; three brothers, two sisters; and her parents.
Katie is survived by her husband, Kenneth Wheeler of Crane; three daughters, Brenda Mathis and Reta Wheeler both of Crane, and Vicki McLaughlin of Midland; one son, Matthew Wheeler of Crane; one brother, Bill Richardson of Mississippi; three sisters, Imogene Steadman of Mississippi, Kathy Harris of Louisiana, and Laverne Richardson of Mississippi; 14 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.
