Julio "Bear" Carrasco Jr.

Julio “Bear” Carrasco, Jr. was born on June 14, 1963 in Fort Stockton, Texas to Julio and Anita Carrasco, and departed his family on January 23, 2015.
Bear married the love of his life, Erma, on February 12, 1982 spending years of friendship and adventure raising their five children and ten grandchildren. Graduating from Crane High School, Bear began his working career with the City of Crane, but soon transitioned to the oil industry. His continued success with Trey Trucking Company and Arco landed Bear a job with Basic Energy of Crane where he worked for 18 years and earned him a position as Area Supervisor. Bear was a diligent and hard worker and was determined to provide for his family.
He was known as the “BBQ Master” by the community and he was always ready to fire up the pit and feed everyone. He loved playing cards with friends and traveling with his beloved Erma. But Bear was famous for being the biggest Notre Dame fan in the Permian Basin. His loyalty to the Fighting Irish ranged from the Irish green truck he drove, to his license plate (BEAR ND), to the Notre Dame tattoo on his leg.
Some of Bear’s favorite roles were as a husband, father and grandfather. He was loving, kind, and ready to give a “Bear hug” when needed. Despite his busy work schedule, Bear found time to coach his two eldest sons in Little League baseball, and even went on to win two championship titles back to back. He traveled with Erma to every sporting event that involved his children and in later years to those of his grandchildren. Even though Bear was never able to make it to South Bend, Indiana, he traveled with his sons to San Antonio, Dallas and Oklahoma to cheer for the Fighting Irish.
Bear’s legacy continues in his children. When all five kids are together, one can see his unconditional love, strong work ethics, strong family values, loyalty, character and honor.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Erma; son Eric, wife Milagros and their children, Jon, Mya and Mia of Midland; son J.C., wife Valerie and their son Jaxon of Midland; daughter Ashley, husband Lorenzo and their children Xzavier, Naveya, Gabriella, and Jacob of Crane; daughter Kayla and son Nathaniell of Crane; and son Justin, fiancé Jayla and their daughter Emarie of Crane.
Bear is also survived by his parents Julio and Anita Carrasco of Crane; sister Elsie Campos of Crane; sister Mary Park of Crane; brother Michael Carrasco of Crane; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Services for Bear will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at the Exhibition Building in Crane, Texas at 11:00 am. Visitation will be held at Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home from Tuesday, January 27h thru Wednesday January 28th, and rosary will be held at the Exhibition Building on Wednesday, January 28 at 7:00 pm.
