Juanita Gutierrez Garcia, age 93, passed away at the McCamey County Hospital on Tuesday, April 28, 2020.
She was born on June 22, 1926, in Sheffield, Texas and was raised by her grandmother, Sotera Garcia. Juanita married Honorato (Nato) Garcia on April 11, 1948, in Sanderson, Texas and was married 69 years. Together they built a God-Loving family. They packed up and moved to McCamey, Texas in 1968, where they made their forever home. Juanita was a devoted Catholic and faithfully attended St. James Catholic Church in Sanderson and subsequently the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in McCamey. She was a member of the Alter Society where she found many lasting friendships. Praying the Rosary in the evenings always filled her heart with love and joy. Her deep belief in God sustained her whole life. She was always thankful for all her blessings.
Juanita was most happy when her family gathered together to celebrate special occasions. She loved her grand, great and great great grandchildren.
Her other great love was working in her garden, tending to her flowers and watching all the different colors come to life. She had the biggest green thumb and could make anything blossom.
We will miss her every day, but she taught us all to trust in God and always be grateful. We will carry all of her lessons in our heart.
She was a resident of the McCamey Convalescent Center for the past year. We wish to thank the nursing home and the McCamey Hospital for caring for her and guiding her home.
She is survived by her two daughters, Virginia Fuentes (Pete), Julia Galindo (Lupe), and a son, Manuel Garcia (Trudy). She was blessed with 5 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Honorato; sister, Gavina Moreno, brother, Roque Lopez, and step sister, Lupe Escañe.
