Evelyn Joy Moody age 83 made her journey home to our heavenly Father on Monday, July 26, 2010. Joy was born in Pioneer, Texas to William F. and Callie Belle Noack on January 26, 1927. She was a longtime resident of McCamey and active member of the First Baptist Church, Rebekah Lodge #169 and American Legion Auxiliary. She was employed in the insurance business for approximately twenty five years working as an Associate with McKinney, Milam and Enmon Insurance
Agencies. She also served as Justice of the Peace Precinct Four for twenty one years retiring in 2002.
Her family and friends knew her as "MaMa". She made those around her feel loved through home cooked meals, conversation and words of comfort and encouragement. She was a beautiful Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt and Friend.
She is survived by her Sons Willard Moody and wife Kathy of Livingston, TX, James (Jesse) Moody and wife Sandy of American Fork, UT, Daughter L'Jean King and husband Marvin of McCamey; Grandsons David (Quint) Gunnells and wife Diana of McCamey, Mark Gunnells and wife Darinda of Converse, Steve Moody and wife Hilda of Midland, Derek Cecil of New York City, Cody Moody and wife Mandy of Austin, Matt Moody and wife Mandy of Draper, UT, Ryan Moody of Salt Lake City, UT, Wes Seilhant and wife Jennifer of Springtown; Step Grandsons Monty King and wife Barbara, Cody King and wife Vonnie of Crane; Granddaughters Shari Rhodes of Midland, Sheryl Mills and husband Marc of Pleasanton, Lisa Best and husband Mike of Mableton, GA, Jessica Glines and husband James of Salt Lake City, UT, L'Jean Moody of Salt Lake City, UT; Seventeen Great Grandchildren and Seven Step Great Grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, lodge sisters and special friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Sidney James Moody, Father and Mother, Brothers J.C. and Melvin Noack, Sister Maudie King, Daughter Mary Gunnells, Granddaughter Jaimee Moody and Grandson Jon Seilhant.
Services will be held in McCamey on Wednesday, July 28th at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church with Pastor Byron Bitner officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home of McCamey. Pallbearers will be her Grandsons and Step Grandsons.
Honoring her wish to have quality life at home she was surrounded by family and friends during her peaceful transition. The family would like to thank Dr. Madhu Pamganamamula, M.D., his staff and Star Hospice for the compassion and care they have shown during her journey to her eternal home.
