Johnnie Clay McGuire, 96, of Crane, passed away on Friday, February 23, 2018, at the Crane Skilled Nursing Center.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, February 26, 2018, at the Crane County Cemetery with Reverend David Evans officiating. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
Johnnie was born on October 29, 1921, in Colorado City, Texas to Coley and Cecil Ernestine Smith. She married William Robert âBobâ McGuire Sr. on December 11, 1940, in Colorado City, Texas. Johnnie was a longtime resident of Crane. She was homemaker, and a member of the Church of Christ.
Johnnie loved to read, loved people and was very social. She was a fantastic cook and enjoyed cooking for others. However, what she loved most was attending her grandchildrenâs sporting events. She never missed a home game.
Johnnie was preceded in death by her husband, William Robert âBobâ McGuire Sr.; great grandson, Trent Ueckert; son-in-law, Quail Dobbs; brother, Cap Smith; and sister, Anna Swafford.
Survivors include her daughter, Judy Dobbs of Coahoma, Texas; her son Bill McGuire and his wife Linda of Crane; six grandchildren, Misty Ueckert and her husband David of Ballinger, Stephanie Rotan and her husband Wayne of Glen Rose, Coley Dobbs and his wife Shawna of Coahoma, Kimberly Stone and her husband Todd of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Cody McGuire and his wife Rachael of Lockhart, and Clay McGuire and his wife Jeri of Lubbock; 12 great grandchildren; and two nieces.
