Joe Lynn Baker, 67, of Colorado City, and formerly of Iraan, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2014, at his home.
The family will be receiving friends at the Church of Christ in Iraan on Thursday, February 20, 2014, from 6:00pm until 8:00pm. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am on Friday, February 21, 2014, at the Church of Christ in Iraan. Burial will follow in the Restland Cemetery with arrangements under the care and direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
Joe was born on February 1, 1947, in Lawton, Oklahoma. He was a Veteran, having served in the United States Army. Joe had lived in Colorado City for the past 12 years. He was a truck driver for Swift Transportation, and had an outstanding driving safety record. Joe was a model train and plane enthusiast. He was very active in the Republican Party, and a member of the American Legion. Joe was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, win or lose.
Joe was preceded in death by his father, Frank Baker; and his step-father, Rufus Holland.
He is survived by his two sons, Jarrod Baker of Arlington, Texas, and Jordan Baker and his wife Lesley of Katy, Texas; his mother, Lillie Holland of Iraan; a brother, Jim Baker and his wife Judy of Granite Shoals, Texas; a sister, Joy Gilley and her husband Melvin of Iraan; three nieces, Amanda Noe, Brandi Gilley, and Kim Baker-Boatman; and one nephew, J.J. Baker.
