Jim Ray, age 70, of Crane, Texas passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 in Crane.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 28th at the Crane County Cemetery with Tommy Parker officiating.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home of Crane.
Jim was born on November 10, 1946 in Jacksboro, Texas. He graduated from high school in Snyder, Texas in 1965. He married Rebecca Ray on August 13, 1987 in Crane.
Jim was well known in this area for his accomplishments in cooking competitions and livestock shows. He had a great love for 4-H, and was instrumental in teaching many young people to care for and show animals, while helping to develop a lifetime work ethic.
Jim worked for Texaco for 28 years. He then worked for T & T Pipe and Supply for 14 years.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Ray; children: Connie Alarcon of Odessa, Wesley Ray of North Dakota, and Wade Hooker of Nashville; five grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents Arnel and Jacie Ray and great granddaughter Phoenix Alarcon.
Pallbearers will be Hunter Seabourn, Patrick Garcia, Joe Escamilla, Leon Tarpley, Jolie Seabourn, and John Taylor.
