Jimmy Ray Marcus, born on February 23, 1931, passed away on September 4, 2012, at approximately 8:15 PM.
Jim grew up in Seminole, Texas, graduated from Seminole High School and went on to get his Bachelor's degree in History from Texas Tech University where he met his wife, Allie Marcus, and they were married on December 5, 1953.
After completing his degree, he pursued a career in education. He worked as a coach and history teacher in Big Spring, Lockney, and Wolfforth, Texas. He then went on to get his Master's degree in Education at West Texas State University and then worked as a principal in Tulia, Tahoka, and Crane, Texas.
Education was Jim's passion, especially coaching football and basketball. In his free time he loved to go fishing and read books. He was always ready with a joke, and overall a lighthearted person. He is loved by many and will be missed.
Jimmy Ray is preceded in death by his parents Fred and Marguerite Marcus as well as brothers Jack and Carroll Marcus He is survived by his wife, Allie Marcus, his sister, Fredda Bingham, his brother Ben Marcus, his daughter Sheri Marcus, his son and daughter-in-law Mike and Carolyn Marcus, his grandchildren Jason, Jesse, and Tyler Marcus, Josh Marsh, and Jenna Valencia, and great-grandchildren Chandler, Aubri, Summer, and Westin Marsh.
Services will be held at First United Methodist Church in Crane, Texas at 2:00 PM on Friday, September 7, 2012. Arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home of Crane.
