Jesse William Perritt

July 2, 1929 — July 20, 2016

Celebration of the Life of Jesse William Perritt. Jesse was born July 2, 1929, in Pittsburg, Texas. The son of William Nelo, and Katy Pearl McFather Perritt.

He departed his earthly life July 20, 2016, at the age of 87 years and 18 days.

Jesse was proceeded in departure by parents and many others of the older generation, but also by his wife Marilyn, who loved her “Buddy” for 44 years of marriage. Also, by their oldest daughter Marsha Hopper and her son “Little” Brad Campbell. He also was proceeded by his brother-in-law, Gordon VanZile.

During his life, Jesse was a Navy Veteran, serving on the destroyer, John R. Craig. He tried several other lines of work after that, before finding his place in the U.S. Postal Service. He was the Post Master in Rankin for about 18 years, and retired as Post Master of Crane in 1992. After he retired he asked the Lord to use and direct whatever time he had left, to His service and glory.

Jesse is survived by his wife, Martha of Rankin, his daughter and son-in-law, Susie and Eddie Stephens of Wink, Texas, and daughter and son-in-law Janice and Richard DelPalacio, of Austin, Texas. Also, “Step” children, Robin and Gary Courtney of Crane, Texas, Karen and Walter Lindsey of Odessa, Texas and Bucky
Simmons of Lulling, Texas and son-in-law and Daugher-in-law Craig and Debra Hopper of San Angelo, Texas. There also are a total of 9 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.

Jesse and Martha have served the Lord as Pastors of Faith Assembly in Rankin since October 2001. He could see no place of retirement from the Lord’s work – preaching his last message on Easter Sunday, 2016.

Many friends will miss Jesse because of his generous heart and strong faith in the Word of God. He didn’t come from a very large family, except his “Brother/Cousins” – the Holmes brothers of California. As children they were more like brothers than cousins. A total of seven boys.

The accomplishments and blessings of his life can only be recorded by the Lord, and the lives he has touched and influenced will only be totaled there. Thank you, Lord, for letting so many benefit from his being here.

Viewing will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2016, from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm at the Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home in Crane.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, July 24, 2016, at the Faith Assembly Church in Rankin with Pastor Calvin Scott officiating. Jesse will be laid to rest in the Masonic Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant, Texas.
