April 24, 1957 – January 15, 2025
Janet Louise Gray Thompson, 67, of Odessa, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2025. She was born on April 24, 1957, in Crane, Texas, to Harold and Dawn Gray.
Janet was a devoted mother who poured her heart into raising her sons before pursuing higher education. She earned a master’s degree in criminal justice from Sul Ross State University and dedicated her career to serving others as a parole officer for the state of Texas. After retiring, her passion for making a difference led her back to work as a classroom teacher.
An avid crafter, Janet found joy in creating. Whether sewing, crocheting, quilting, knitting, or cake decorating, she always had a project—or two—keeping her hands busy and her creativity alive. Her infectious laugh and loving spirit left an indelible mark on everyone who knew her. She was a second mom to any friend her sons brought home, welcoming them into her home with open arms and a warm heart.
A woman of faith, Janet was born and baptized as a Church of Christ Christian. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is now resting peacefully with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Janet is survived by her sons, Randall Thompson and Clifford (Audrey) Thompson; her grandsons, Cato, Nixon, Lincoln, and Rhett; her brothers Roger (Imelda) Gray and David (Teresa) Gray; niece Autumn Gray and nephews Jason (Ruth) Gray and Brandon; great nieces Zoe Julia; and the father of her children, Ronald Thompson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Dawn Gray.
A memorial service to celebrate Janet’s life will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 2:00PM, at Nichols Funeral Home, 1503 S. Gaston, Crane, TX.
