James âJimâ Wesley Vick, 58, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday June 21, 2011, in Rankin, Texas, after suffering a lengthy illness.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, June 24, 2011 at the First Baptist Church in Rankin where he was a longtime member with Reverends Randy Bush and Matt Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Rankin Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home of Crane. Pallbearers will be Randy Surber, Bob Parham, Ryan Simpson, Bobby Johnson, Dean Titsworth, Dewayne Stephens, and James Hamilton.
He was born to Hubert and Yvonna Vick in Big Spring, TX on September 14, 1952 and attended elementary school in Abilene, TX before moving to Rankin, Texas in 1966. Jim attended Rankin High School where he excelled in sports and was a state champion pole vaulter. Upon graduation in 1971, Jim attended Angelo State University for a short time before transferring to Alice, TX where he worked for Halliburton Services in frac and cement while completing his degree in Chemical Engineering, from Texas A&I University, Kingsville, TX.
Jim had a successful, fulfilling career in the Oil & Gas field where he specialized in Cementing and Advanced Stimulation. He loved the challenges of his profession and his dedication led to the development of the Ambornax fracturing fluid system, Progel system, and Progel CMHPG HT system. As an Oil & Gas Consultant he specialized in completion and work over projects and had the opportunity to share his talents overseas where he worked on various projects in Iran, Turkey, Kaxakhstan and Baku, Azerbaijan.
After returning from overseas, Jim worked in both South and West Texas with American Energy Services and finished his career as an oil and gas consultant where he shared his knowledge to assist companies with achieving the best results. Above all else, the most important thing was that Jim loved the Lord and being a Christian.
He is preceded in death by his father Hubert W. Vick of Rankin, TX, and is survived by Wife Mrs. James Vick (Cynthia) of Rankin, TX, two sons Rixie (RL) Sipes and wife Christy of Hockley, TX, Tony Vick and Wife Jamie of Pittsburg, TX, three Daughters, Chelsea Lamme and husband David of College Station, TX, Ami Lee Wells and husband Randy of Guam, Ashley Looper and husband Daniel of Dallas, TX, three granddaughters Allyson Sipes, Emily Sipes and Grace Lamme, two grandsons Hunter Sipes and Trent Vick, mother Yvonna McComb and husband Steve of Mertzon, sister Angela Golson and husband Murray of Rankin and brother Mike Vick and wife Meg of San Angelo, TX, nephew Ronnie Golson and wife Amanda of Rankin, TX and niece Julie Richards and husband Waco of Rankin, TX.
Jim has left a lasting impression on the lives of his family and friends. He is loved by many and will truly be missed.
