James Albert Blanscet

June 14, 1945 — July 21, 2010

James Albert Blanscet, age 65, of McCamey passed away in Roswell, N.M., on July 21, 2010. James was born June 14, 1945, in Roswell, N.M. to Clarence P. and Thelma Curtis Blanscet. James graduated from Roswell High School in 1963. He moved to McCamey, TX, in 1967 and met and married the love of his life, Shelia Adams, in December of that year.
Together, they owned and operated McCamey Auto Parts. This was a fitting profession for James because, next to his love for Shelia, his love was building and racing cars. He was an avid drag racer. After leaving the business he became a compressor mechanic and continued at that profession for the next 35 years until he retired 8 years ago.
James was a devoted husband and lovingly cared for Shelia after her health confined her to a wheelchair. They spent their afternoons either driving around seeing the sites of McCamey or just sitting outside together feeding the birds. Just spending time together made them happy.
James loved his grandkids and great grandkids and they loved their grandpa. They loved spending time with him, going to the garden, learning how to whistle, playing games and having tea parties. He was always there for his friends and family if they needed him.
James was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shelia Blanscet and his mother, Thelma Blanscet. He is survived by his daughters Dawn Fay of McCamey and Christy Maynard of Crane, his father Clarence Blanscet of Comanche, sisters Wanda Gressett and husband David and Lenora Blanscet of Comanche, grandchildren Heath Andrew, Trey Chavez, Patrick Chavez, Chris Chavez and wife Annette, Hunter and Jake Maynard, and great grandchildren Ava Andrew, Shawn Chavez and Zachary Chavez. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Mary Adams, brother-in-law Leslie Adams and wife Deanne, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and many, many friends.
Services will be held on Sunday, July 25th at 2 PM in the Shaffer-Nichols Chapel in McCamey with interment in the Resthaven Cemetery. Pallbearers are Rob Adams, Sid Harrison, Will Kennedy, Leon Patrick, George Berry, and Bruce Grady. Honorary Pallbearers are Ray Purdy, Coy Lynch, Wayne Smith, Mike Hines and Leslie Adams.
