Irma Valenzuela, 55, of Crane, a special education teacher at Crane ISD for 30 years, passed away Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
Visitation will be March 16th and 17th at Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home and a rosary will be said at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 17th. Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 19th at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Camp Wood with Father Sady Santana officiating. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Nelson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Camp Wood, Texas. Arrangements are by Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home of Crane and Nelson Funeral Home of Camp Wood.
Irma was born in Camp Wood, Texas and, after obtaining a Bachelor of Education from Angelo State University, moved to Crane, where she resided for 33 years. A silent warrior, Irmaâs faith and positive attitude were never ending. We salute and will always remember her for a life of remarkable achievements as an educator, mentor, and most importantly as a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and adored wife of the late and much missed Tomas Valenzuela Jr., who preceded her in death.
SURVIVORS: Daughter, Anna Alicia Tarin and son-in-law Philip Tarin of Crane; son, Thomas Anthony Valenzuela of Crane; grandchildren, Christian and Adam Tarin of Crane; father and mother, Gaudencio and Lucinda Hidalgo of Camp Wood; sister, Gloria Arebalos of Rocksprings; brothers, Daniel Hidalgo of Midland, Stevan Hidalgo of Georgetown, Antonio Hidalgo, Gregorio Hidalgo and Jesse Hidalgo of Camp Wood. Irma was preceded in death by two of her sisters, Rosa and Manuela Hidalgo.
