Howard L. White born March 16, 1934 in Dorrance, KS to Chuck and Libby (Hubbs) White, passed from this life to the next to join his family there on April 18, 2014.
He was a 30 year veteran in the Navy where he proudly served, something he wanted to do from the time he was a little boy growing up on a farm. He liked building models of planes, ships and cars and later in life really liked participating in craft shows. He was always wanting to help other people. He liked watches and had collected many over the years and furnished everyone close to him with watches. He liked square dancing and was president of his dance club. He loved animals and was a frequent visitor to the animal shelter just to give a little attention to the animals there and he had several pets that he took loving care of during their lives and they loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings Charles and Mildred (Earl Yarnel) and his oldest daughter Debbie Lee.
He is survived a wife Diana White of Odessa and their family: daughter Michele James of Midland, sons David White of Odessa, Jimmy White (Jennifer) of Midland and Nicole Steele (Travis) of Gardendale and by a son, Jay White (from his first marriage) of Edgerton, KS and by his grand children: Kennadi, Zach, Alex, Kyah, Jaden, Haley, Hayden, Charlee, Cash, JT and Charlie and by 5 great grand children
He loved and was devoted to his close companion of many years Gail Haywood who loved him deeply and took care of him during his declining years.
Services were held at 2:00PM on Tuesday, April 22nd at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating with arrangements by Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home of Crane.
