Honorato (âNatoâ) Fabian Garcia, age 90, passed away at Midland Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family on Thursday, April 20, 2017.
Nato Garcia was born on October 22, 1926, in Sanderson, Texas, to Simon and Francisca Garcia. Nato married Juanita Gutierrez on April 11, 1948. Nato and Juanita had just celebrated 69 years of blissful marriage. Nato had a strong work ethic and took great pride in all of his work.
He worked for several years for the railroad company in Sanderson, Texas, before going to work for the Texas Highway Department in Sanderson.
In 1966 he transferred within the Texas Highway Department to McCamey, Texas, where he worked until his retirement in 1990.
Nato was Catholic and faithfully attended St. James Catholic Church in Sanderson and subsequently Sacred Heart Catholic Church in McCamey.
His deep belief in God sustained him throughout his life. Nato loved spending time with his wife and with his family. He was most happy when all of his family members gathered together to celebrate special occasions.
Nato was an avid Texas Rangers fan. Nato also loved to follow the Dallas Cowboys, and he would endearingly refer to them as âmis vaqueros.â The Cowboys have lost one of their greatest fans.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita; two daughters, Virginia (Pete), Julia (Lupe), and a son, Manuel (Trudy); 5 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Rosary will be held at Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home in McCamey at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 23rd. Funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in McCamey at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 24th. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery in McCamey.
âBrothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope.â 1 Thessalonians 4:1
